About INDTutoring

My name is Isaac Denness, and I am currently a medical student at Newcastle University. I have always had a deep passion for learning, which was cultivated during my time at Rugby School from 2017 to 2022. I was fortunate to benefit from excellent teachers who inspired and challenged me, but I am conscious that not everyone has access to such opportunities. This recognition drives my commitment to tutoring — to help others succeed by offering the support and guidance that can make a real difference.

Academically, I have always aimed high. I achieved nine grade 9s and three grade 8s at GCSE, followed by 3 A*s and 2 As at A Level. My UCAT score of 3160 (Band 1) placed me well within the top 1% of candidates nationwide, and my BMAT score earned me an interview for Medicine at Oxford University. These experiences taught me not just the importance of hard work and effective study strategies, but also how to navigate exams under pressure and maximise performance.

My tutoring philosophy is simple: make complex concepts understandable. I focus on breaking down difficult topics into manageable chunks that students can easily grasp, ensuring they build confidence along the way. As someone who has sat modern exams in recent years, I have a unique perspective on the challenges students face today, unlike many traditional teachers. This allows me to connect with my tutees and offer relevant advice based on current exam structures and expectations.

In addition to helping students with subject knowledge, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique. I guide my students through practice questions and past papers, offering tips on how to approach exams effectively, manage time, and handle tricky questions. I believe that mastering these skills can unlock a student’s full potential.

I also believe in the power of perseverance. One of my own proudest achievements was turning an E in Further Maths A Level into an A within just three months, all while studying for four other A Levels. This experience taught me that with the right approach and determination, even the most challenging subjects can be mastered. Similarly, I self-studied Latin and achieved a grade 8 at GCSE a year early, demonstrating my ability to succeed independently and understand how exams work.

For those preparing for the UCAT, I offer tailored support. I remember my own preparation in 2021 and how little guidance was available at the time. This motivated me to help others tackle this daunting exam. Many doctors I’ve spoken to still regard the UCAT as one of the toughest exams they’ve ever sat. My goal is to simplify the process for my students by breaking down techniques, offering structured revision plans, and making exam strategies transparent and easy to follow.

If you’re looking for a tutor who combines recent exam experience with proven academic success, I’m here to help. Whether you're aiming for top grades, improving your exam technique, or preparing for the UCAT, I’m committed to guiding you every step of the way. Let’s work together to unlock your potential and achieve your goals.
